D is for Daddy/Daughter Date Night

New friends! Thanks for the comments and the follows, I hope that I am following you back (I think I am!), if not please messages me and I will. I am so enjoying this A to Z challenge!

For the record I love, love, love my little (well, not so little anymore) tiny person. I love her sooo much that I like taking her with me wherever I go. I love her so much that I would quit my job if it ever seemed to interfere with my need to take care of her and be a good mother.

However, there are times when I want to, crave to, need to be alone (I wrote all about them here) and there are times when I need to get things done (grading, lesson planning, house cleaning) and these things are hard to do with an inquisitive two-year old.

After a rather heated discussion (OK, it was an all out fight) were I told Chris that I was going crazy and I wanted to be alone, and I gave him lots of time to be alone in his own home and that if I didn't have time alone in my own home I was going to make it to where I was always alone *whew!*...we devised a plan and our week looks something like this:

Monday Normal day with Family and friends or just family or whatever
Tuesday Normal day with Family and friends or just family or whatever
Wednesday Chris goes out with his friends and my friends come over and we play and grade and watch Tangled until our eyes bug out
Thursday Daddy/Daughter Date Night...thanks good 'ole college friend for posting all those wonderful pics on FB of you and your daughters, so I could have an idea of what I wanted to talk to Chris about after the tidal wave subsided
Friday I go out with my friends, or I just go out alone, or Chris takes care of the tiny tot while I take a nap
Saturday The day we may have a planned activity, that planned activity may involve Chris working on his brother's car while the tiny tot and I stay in our pjs all day long
Sunday Normal day with Family...church, perhaps???

So, since November (there were a few days in December that it didn't happen, but December is ka-razy!) I know that I have Thursday evening (at least 3 hours, sometimes more) to do whatever I want to do like take a nap, grade papers, watch Bradley Cooper uninterrupted, read a book and Chris takes the wee one on adventures to Dairy Queen or the park or to Springfield shopping for car parts and eating at the Olive Garden. They come home, she's tired, they've bonded (last week I said I didn't know what I was going to make for dinner and I was informed by Chris, that I could not come eat with them because he was his time with Lila), I'm relaxed and the world is a better place.

This is not a 'Date Night'
but it is a cute picture of Chris drawing
the tiny tot a picture of a heart and Jack the Pumpkin king per her request.

  1. How cute is Lila!! I used to have special time with my dad when I was a young girl and I loved it.

And Bradley Cooper uninterrupted is a great way to spend some time. ;)
