Challenges 2012

Although I've not finished my 2011 challenges...I've joined a couple of 2012 challenges (couldn't help it!)


These are the books I will read for this fan­tas­tic read­ing challenge:

– Twenty Thou­sand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne
– Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Steven­son
– The Invis­i­ble Man by H.G. Wells
– The First Men in the Moon by H.G. Wells
– Any Fu Manchu novel 
 The Insidious Dr. Fu Manchu by Sax Rohmer
– Any Sher­lock Holmes novel 
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
– Any Allan Quater­main novel 
King Solomon's Mine Henry Rider Haggard
– Any James Bond novel 
Quantum of Solace: The Complete James Bond Short Stories Ian Fleming
and
- The League of Extra­or­di­nary Gen­tle­men graphic novel to tie it all together.

  • Any 19th Century Classic Around the World in 80 Days Jules Verne
  • Any 20th Century Classic Albert Nobbs George Moore
  • Reread a classic of your choice Dracula Bram Stoker
  • A Classic Play After the Dance Terence Rattigan
  • Classic Mystery/Horror/Crime Fiction The Moonstone Wilkie Collins
  • Classic Romance The Fox DH Lawrence
  • Read a Classic that has been translated from its original language to your languange   - To clarify, if your native language is NOT English, you may read any classic originally written in English that has been translated into your native language.  Antigone Sophocles
  • Classic Award Winner  - To clarify, the book should be a classic which has won any established literary award.  So Big Edna Ferber (Pulitzer Prize winner 1925)
  • Read a Classic set in a Country that you (realistically speaking) will not visit during your lifetime  - To Clarify, this does not have to be a country that you hope to visit either.  Countries that no longer exist or have never existed count. Robinson Crusoe Daniel DeFoe (Alone for 28 years on a remote tropical island near Trinidad)

    I'll be going for the minimum Coupon clipper: 12 books (as I just found out you can get free eBooks on Friday at BN), I already learned the little trick of typing 0.0 in the search box to find free books. I'm looking forward to this challenge and I'm sure Chris is too, as this will help me buy less books.
